Life lessons on my 32nd
As my 32nd birthday was rolling in I thought it would be sweet to share with you guys some lessons through the years. Here it goes……..
1.) Embrace your age!
I used to think that people in their thirties were old folks! I know crazy right!! But let me tell you they have by far been my best years yet!! I feel like I can really enjoy life these days and watching my babies grow has been amazing!!
2.) Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life
Heard that before?
It’s true!! My main job is being a stylist, and there is nothing more satisfying than helping people feel great about themselves. It comes so easy to me that’s the best part! Find what that is for you.
3.) Be there for someone
We’ve all had our moments, let’s keep it real. With so much going on in the world it’s hard to tell how people are doing. Like really doing. I’ve been hearing lately to check on your friends, even the strong ones! I always take a few minutes each week to check on a few friends that come to mind. Do it!
4.) Growing pains are aren’t just for kids
I know my kids get these pains because their little bodies are stretching. Same with us! Ours are just a little different. Mine seem to be with passions. Seasons come and go and my dreams and visions in life change. When you feel it in your gut it means UPGRADE! Whatever that means to you, it’s God telling you it’s time. Change the job, get out of your comfort zone, spiritually, start the new business, go somewhere, go alone, take the day off, rewrite your dreams, do something they always said you couldn’t. I can go on and on….
5.) Take time for yourself
As a mother myself, I know if i don’t have that I’m nuts!! I love me some quiet time. Even if it’s a day of doing housework all alone with out the kids making a mess in the other room I just cleaned. So important!!
6.) When you look good you feel good…
And when you feel good you do good, and when you do good you work good and it goes on.. so what I mean is it starts with looking good. Confidence is everything. Take time to keep up with yourself. Hair, nails, facials, massages, exercise, and the list goes on. I’m not always the best at it but I really try!
7.) Do good when no one is watching
That can consist of a lot of things but for me it makes me think of freedom and integrity. There’s nothing like going to bed knowing that I’ve done my best. The only thing that makes me open my right eye at night is when I remembered I didn’t cut her bangs!!
8.) Do the things..
One of my favorite sayings is YOLO!!
You only live once right!! Go on that trip, go do that thing you’ve been wanting to do or buy! Accomplish one thing you’ve been wanting to get done and reward yourself!!
9.) Surround yourself with supportive people
You ever had those negative Nancy’s around? Ugh, BUZZKILL LOL yeah it’s a must to be around people who support your dreams even if they sound ridiculous!! Make sure they are trustworthy too! I have a handful of cheerleaders on my team!!
10.) Be organized
Make your bed!! First accomplishment of the day!! Wake up and go to bed with everything clean around you and your mind will be at ease.
11.) Be present
Kids or no kids, but especially if you have kids. Enjoy those little moments and be there in those little milestone. Give them the attention they crave and need. If you have a little one anything like my daughter, she will check you real quick! LOL I know their love language!
12.) Be grateful
I know I have a past and thank God im not where I used to be. How lucky am I?!! I’m lucky to be alive actually! Be thankful, there is someone who wishes to be where you are or to have what you have.
13.) Invest in your self
Take that class that will help you grow your business. It’s so easy nowadays, we are able to learn so much online! Last year I believe I took 6 courses!! They have paid off too!
14.) Ask for help
Yes, we all need it. Ask for help when you need it. Even if it’s hired help, there are people willing to help. Anywhere between babysitting, car wash memberships, cleaning lady, yard man, social media assistant, personal assistant.. sometime we need it!
15.) Who cares what anyone thinks!
Do you boo and stay in your lane!
16.) Don’t let the haters stress you out
Don’t we all have them! I heard a saying once… “ New levels, New devils. “
Then recently I heard someone rephrase it as “New levels, New challenges.” because why give the enemy any credit. Don’t be moved, they are just to scared to do what you’ve done! Sometimes it’s hard but I can say it gets easier.
16.) Celebrate others!!
I grew up being a cheerleader and that has never faded!! I love rooting for people!
17.) “Mommin”
We will never be perfect all we can do is try!!
18.) Pray
Definitely should not be number eighteen on the list, but you get me. Where would I have been with out my faith.
19.) Workout
Wish I can say I was a lot better at this but at least I strive for it. Some seasons are better than others.
20.) Make time for brunch
Every few weeks I make time in my schedule to meet with a few of my close friends just to catch up and let them in on what’s new. I really enjoy those meetings!
My goal was to make it to 32 lessons but that isn’t happening tonight. LOL
This has been really neat and had me thinking. I will for sure be adding on to the list. Thanks for getting to the bottom of this!! Share with me in the comments of some lessons you’ve learned along the way.
